Apples for Apples

This is the one I like to hear.

Well Jim, I got a few more estimates to get and when I match apples for apples I will let you know.

Can you match apples for apples with roofing????  I think not. I personally feel like the only thing that you can count on with all of us in the upstate doing roofing is: Most of us have an account with the same local vendors and this means the products we use will be similar, that's it.

The other factors are these:

Did I talk to a Salesman? the owner?

When he did my estimate (if he got on the roof?) did he protect my gutters with the gutter protector on his ladder????

Did he get on the roof at all??

Did he answer all of my questions??

When I call his number does he call me back in an hour or less??

Is there hidden charges......if he didn't get on the roof, how does he know anything??

Who will be in charge?? Will the owner be there to ensure everything we discussed.....gets done.

Apples for Apples only works when you compare 2 Dodge trucks at 2 different dodge dealerships. The trucks are made from the same manufacturing plant and the same employees had their hands on both trucks. The dealership just sells it. Roofing.....materials is where we are all the same......after that......we are the manufacturing plant that installs it, forgets to caulk the chimney, forgets to seal the pipe collars, forgets to roll the magnets for nails, etc. etc.
